The Nut Tree Aviation community mournes the passing of our friend, Michael Hedrick
The following are contributions from those that knew Mike.
Michael was our EAA1230 President for the past several years. He was passionate about aviation and people. Mike worked tirelessly at his passion, flying and educating. He flew many Young Eagle flights, probably more that anyone else in the area. He voluntered his time to the local EAA chapter, a member for decades and our last President, prior to the Pandemic. I have no information on his death, only that it was related to the China Virus. This page will be devoted to the memory of Mike. Please send any submissions to me.
In Memoriam: Michael (Mike) Hedrick
Mike was a much beloved fixture at nut Tree Airport. He was the unofficial Airort ambassador, meeting and greeting visitors and long-time friends alike. He was interested in and helpful to everyone he met. He was born in Palo Alto, Ca and grew up in Woodside. His priorities were his own family, his church family and, of course, aviation - his career and his passion. Mike spent over 28 years in the United States Air Force, Air Force reserve and FAA in various positions and was retired by the age of 62. While in the Air Force, Mike met his lovely wife, Joanie. they had two children, Jonathan and Aimee. Jonathan and his wife, Christie, blessed their family with two beautiful granddaughters, Julianne and Carina, both of whom spent many hours with Mike on the field and in his hangar. He was very active with the EAA, Young Eagles and the Airport Advisory committee. he shared his love of flying with many people - friends and strangers. - and when he could no longer fly he hitched rides with his many friends. He led by example - and he was a great one. Mike passed away January 19, 2021. He is survived by Joanie, their children and grandchildren. Blue skies, Mike!
